What is adware and spyware -
This is a type of software that monitors your internet activity
to determine what your interests are and then reports that activity
back to the software supplier. Sometimes it will pop up "relevant"
adverts when you are surfing. For example if it sees you are looking
for a new DVD then an ad for a DVD retailer might pop up encouraging
you to buy at a discount. This may be a benign activity or it can
be totally malicious.
Every day internet surfers install SpyWare and AdWare components
on their PC’s without even knowing it. The results of SpyWare
and AdWare vary, but can include:

spam e-mails sent to you
• pop up ads displayed

and many more…
Not only are these results of SpyWare and AdWare troublesome, but
the results you may not see are also problematic. SpyWare and AdWare
installed on your computer secretly gather your personal information
and relay it to advertisers, thieves, or others via the internet,
without your authorization or knowledge!! To make the issue even
worse, many AdWare and SpyWare programs are made to be difficult
to remove from your PC!
We recommend you use software to protect against these programs and
remove those that are already on your machine.
Spybot is reaily available free software that works well and many companies like Norton and Microsoft provide commercial software to do the job.
